Schools2030 is a ten-year programme to improve education quality, involving 1,000 public schools from ten countries, including Kyrgyzstan. The Forum addressed three key topics corresponding to the three-phase Schools2030 model: assessment, innovation, and showcase. More than 200 participants from 35 countries took part in the event, among them representatives of international organizations, donor organizations, research institutes, and researchers, teachers and students. The Ministers of Education from Portugal and Kyrgyzstan, the mayor of Porto city, and the General Manager of AKF, highlighted important issues such as inclusion and pluralistic learning in schools.

Taalim-Forum, represented by Almagul Osmonova and Jyldyz Doolbekova, discussed the progress of the ongoing KIX applied research project Distance Education to improve Quality and Access to School Education in Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan with Tricia Wind, the Program Leader of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) at Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Participation in the Forum also provided an opportunity to meet with the Minister and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of the Aga Khan Foundation, representatives from international organizations implementing global and regional projects in education, experts and teachers from different countries.

Taalim-Forum shared its strategies for knowledge mobilization and stakeholder engagement in a Challenge Workshop on the topic: How can we coordinate to help better ensure that research and innovation is considered in policy dialogue? Participants expressed their views on the key factors that hinder or help to incorporate research findings into policy dialogue.

The next Global Forum will be held in Kyrgyzstan, focusing on climate and education. At the closing ceremony, the Minister of Education of Portugal, Mr. Costa, handed over the symbolic cube SDG 4 Quality Education to the Minister of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Imanaliev.
