This workshop is designed for education stakeholders at the country level to support them in understanding the essential concepts of domestic education financing and monitoring national education budgets. Over two days, participants will delve into the key elements of national education budgets, exploring their structure and processes. The workshop aims to build participants’ capacity to interpret and analyse education budgets and enhance their advocacy and policy dialogue skills.
Key topics will include understanding budget cycles, the roles of various governmental and non-governmental actors in budget formulation and execution and strategies for effective monitoring and analysis. Participants will engage in practical exercises, analyse education budget scenarios and explore monitoring activities. The workshop will use the Guidelines for the Monitoring of National Education Budgets published by the Secretariat of the Global Partnership for Education as a key resource.
This workshop is essential for anyone involved in education planning, implementation or advocacy, providing them with the tools to ensure that education budgets are effectively allocated and utilised, driving improvements in educational outcomes.
This workshop will be useful for both actors working directly with education finance and education experts currently not engaged in education finance discussions.
