Project Abstract

Despite global efforts to improve children's readiness, many children are not well prepared to start school. The Every Newborn-Reach Up Early Education Intervention for All Children (EN-REACH) initiative successfully increased children’s readiness to enter pre-primary school in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Tanzania with supports for both children and their caregivers. This project builds on that success by generating evidence on adapting the initiative to include teachers, aiming to further support the transition to primary education for all children, including both boys and girls and those with disabilities.

The project explores how to effectively scale the initiative by enhancing the capacity and engagement of both parents and teachers, with the aim of facilitating its uptake into a government-supported program. It also seeks to produce a comprehensive training package focusing on foundational skills through play-based teaching, tools for school readiness, resources for mobilization of stakeholders, and a cost evaluation framework.
