Launch of phase 3 of the WiLL-AGREE project in Madagascar

In January 2025, the GPE KIX project Women in Learning Leadership: Advancing Gender-Responsive Education Using Evidence (WiLL-AGREE) reached a key milestone with the facilitation of a technical workshop in collaboration with Madagascar's Ministère de l'Éducation Nationale (MEN). This exchange allowed us to co-create the research protocol that will guide a quantitative survey of a representative sample of public elementary schools. The discussions were rich and constructive, leading to concerted, well-informed decisions.
We are already working on the design of survey tools for the next phase of the project: the launch of data collection in several regions of the country. This study will analyze existing leadership practices and their impact on the involvement of teaching staff, academic performance and student well-being. Particular attention will be paid to differences in practices according to the gender of principals and their influence on girls and boys.
The research team would like to warmly thank the experts from MEN and the Institut National de la Statistique (INSTAT), as well as the members of the national advisory group, whose valuable contributions enrich this initiative and strengthen the shared commitment to inclusive educational leadership.
