On December 3-4, 2022, Taalim-Forum public foundation held a joint working meeting on Digital Transformation of the Education System in Kyrgyzstan as part of the Distance education to improve quality and access to school education in Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Tajikistan project. Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science, NGOs, educational institutions, education, and IT experts took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, practices and approaches to digitalizing education at all levels were analyzed, future steps were identified, and barriers, monitoring, and information security issues were discussed. The participants recommended five priority areas for the digital transformation of education in Kyrgyzstan:
- Improving management efficiency;
- Strengthening the digital infrastructure of educational institutions;
- Developing the ICT competencies of education managers and teachers;
- Creating open educational resources and
- Promoting innovative practices and learning models.
The Programme of Education Development in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021-2040 identifies the development of digital education as a priority area. As a result of the workshop, a document was developed containing an analysis of the discussions and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the digital transformation of education in the country. This document was submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science to be considered when developing a policy on the digitalization of education in the Kyrgyz Republic.
