From June 20 to 22, 2022, in Ouagadougou, the Burkina Faso Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages (MENAPLN), with the support of the KIX Africa 21 regional hub led by the AUF-CONFEMEN-IFEF/OIF consortium, held a workshop to draft a document on capitalizing on educational innovations and successes.

Placed under the oversight of the Secretary General of MENAPELN, who was represented at the opening by Bonaventure SEGUEDA, Permanent Secretary of the Plan Stratégique de Développement de l'Education de Base et de l'Enseignement Secondaire [Strategic Plan for the Development of Basic Education and Secondary Education] (SP-PSDEBS) and Focal Point of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), the workshop was attended by Maïmouna SISSOKO-TOURE, Coordinator of the KIX Africa 21 regional hub, and Yéri Florence Stéphanie GUIRA/PODA, Technical Advisor to the Minister.

This activity, which followed a call for papers launched by the MENAPLN on December 24, 2021, made it possible to review all the innovations selected through said call. Invited to this work, the promoters of initiatives had the opportunity to share additional information in response to the observations made by the Comité technique de rédaction du document de capitalisation [Capitalization Document Technical Drafting Committee].

By opting for this strategy of documenting good practices and innovations in education, Burkina Faso hopes to make it easier to share them with national and regional education stakeholders. In addition, according to Serge KYELLEM, Burkina Faso KIX Focal Point, this approach will contribute to the understanding and adaptation by other countries facing similar educational challenges.

On the sidelines of this workshop, the KIX Africa 21 regional hub participated in a workshop to present the PASEC 2019 results to the research professors at the University of Koudougou teacher training college. During this meeting, a KIX program presentation was delivered by Maïmouna SISSOKO-TOURE, Hub Coordinator, with special emphasis on the activities carried out to commercialize education research.

The mission of the KIX Africa 21 regional hub in Burkina Faso ended with a meeting with the Minister of Education, Lionel BILGO. During this meeting, prospects for actions for the benefit of the Burkina Faso educational system were discussed, particularly the need to develop synergies with the Ministry of Higher Education in order to increase the researchers' involvement in the work done by the KIX national coordination team. It is with this vision that the KIX Africa 21 and KIX Africa 19 hubs are jointly holding a Symposium Continental sur la recherche et les innovations en éducation [Continental Symposium on Research and Innovation in Education] from October 4 to 6, 2022, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
