Applied research to transform education in vulnerable contexts

On July 29 and 30, the KIX LAC Hub held the regional virtual conference “Teaching practice in vulnerable contexts: Lessons Learned from the Projects of the KIX LAC Ecosystem.”

Over the two days, the conference promoted the regional exchange of evidence and lessons from the applied research projects that make up the KIX LAC ecosystem. The dialogue provided an opportunity to analyze how the knowledge generated by these experiences can strengthen teachers’ work and support foundational learning, especially in educational contexts marked by exclusion, inequality and vulnerability.

These projects generate evidence to adapt and scale innovations according to each context and with the participation of education stakeholders, thereby contributing to sustainable improvements in practice and policy.

Six projects were presented during the conference:

🌎 Gender-Inclusive Pedagogy for Community-Level Early Childhood Education in Guatemala and Honduras

🌎 Scaling a Learning through Play Model for Early Childhood Education in El Salvador

🌎 Gender equity and inclusion in Caribbean schools.

🌎 Adapting and scaling peer tutoring for teachers and school leaders for equitable rural education (TEPA).

🌎 AdapTED: Observatory for Educational Adaptation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

🌎 Flexible Educational Trajectories for Vulnerable Adolescents and Youth in Guatemala.

The impact of the KIX LAC ecosystem lies in its capacity to connect research, practice, community and public policy. This approach enables innovations to move beyond the project stage and become sustainable responses that strengthen the right to education for populations facing the greatest gaps in the region.
