The Quest for Sustainable Inclusion

This knowledge brief evaluates the intersectional barriers faced by children with disabilities in Bhojpur Municipality, Nepal, highlighting the gap between national mandates and local "functional adequacy." While residential care provides a safe, gender-segregated environment, students remain marginalized by substandard assistive devices, a "one-size-fits-all" curriculum, and severe financial constraints. 

The research advocates for shifting from a "welfarist" model to a capability approach that prioritizes specialized teacher training and vocational independence. Ultimately, it emphasizes that true social inclusion requires breaking communication barriers between students, their families, and the wider community.
