Lifting barriers: guide on gender-transformative teaching and learning materials: Lesotho

Teaching and learning materials (TLMs) play an important role in shaping how learners understand themselves, others and their place in society. When meaningfully designed, TLMs can support learning while contributing to the promotion of gender equality.

In addition to fulfilling their academic or subject-based purpose, materials are designed to promote positive and healthy gender norms. Achieving this requires careful attention to how gender is conveyed through text, images and design, and to the learning experiences they create, so that learners can reflect and question harmful norms and stereotypes, rather than reproducing them.
