Lifting barriers: Boys' disengagement from education. A compendium of six mini case studies on school-based interventions

This compendium reviews six mini case studies on school-based interventions that challenge gender norms, including harmful and restrictive masculinities, with the aim of improving boys' engagement in school and foster gender equality more broadly.

This review informed the research conducted by the University of East Anglia and published under the title Lifting barriers: Boys’ disengagement from education. Volume 1: Scoping study, which identifies key strategies with the potential to address these challenges and support boys’ academic achievement and their development as gender-equitable  individuals.

This research is part of the GPE-KIX Lifting barriers: Educating boys for gender equality project, led by UNESCO in partnership with Equimundo and the University of East Anglia.
