Children's Perspectives on Valued Well-Being Capabilities.
This report, titled "Promoting Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Schools: Building on What Children Value and Aspire to Do and Be," presents the findings of a participatory action research project conducted in 13 community schools in Bhojpur Municipality, Koshi Province, Nepal. The study was funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX), a joint endeavour with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). This report examines how school-going children conceptualize and value their well-being, with a particular focus on educational capabilities. It explores well-being domains from a child-centered perspective, analyzing how boys and girls perceive and prioritize these domains differently. Through gender-disaggregated analysis, the study reveals both convergences and divergences in their perspectives, offering critical insights into the educational capabilities children consider essential for a flourishing life.
