For deeper understanding of the concepts of gender and social inequalities, the Taalim-Forum public foundation conducted their first workshop on “Gender and Education”. It was organized in December 2021 with the participation of the project team, consultants, and researchers involved in the KIX-funded project “Distance education to improve quality and access to school education in Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Tajikistan”. The participants reviewed and analysed the normative legal acts in the field of gender equality and education in Kyrgyzstan. The discussion addressed gender gaps in education by analysing various actors including teachers, managers, students, and graduates. The workshop’s facilitator Gender expert and sociologist Mehrigul Ablezova presented a gender-transformative approach and possibilities of its use in the education system.

The project's external consultant, Emma Sabzalieva, hosted an online seminar on “Educational Research: A Practical Guide to Educational Conferences and Journals in the English-Speaking Academic Community”. The participants learned about prestigious educational conferences and journals, criteria for abstract submission, and writing articles for publication.

The participants discussed the consolidated report on the desk research conducted in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Mongolia, as well as the research methodology and tools. The project team summed up the results of work for 2021 and discussed work plans for 2022.
