Hosted by GPE KIX and partners from the Global Coalition for Foundational Learning (GCFL)—including the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the Gates Foundation—this webinar brings together key stakeholders to share insights on strengthening education data systems and improving the availability and use of learning data at the classroom, district, national, and cross-sectoral levels. 

Goal: To support more effective resource allocation and better meet the learning needs of all children.

Webinar Objectives 

  • Share tools, approaches, and practices for measuring and reporting on learning, with a focus on child-level and school-level data systems. 
  • Discuss strategies to integrate datasets—including learning assessments—to scale up data use by policymakers and improve timely, effective decision-making at all levels. 
  • Present practical country cases (Burkina Faso, India, Kenya, Uganda) on the quality and use of data to inform learning monitoring, teaching practices, and resource allocation. 

Part 1: Advancing Foundational Learning Data and Its Use 

This session will explore how GPE is supporting progress on foundational learning data through results-based financing. Drawing on insights from the GPE KIX synthesis report on Education Data Systems and Data Use, it will emphasize the shift from data collection to effective use in decision-making.

Part 2: Promising Use of Data at District and School Levels to Improve Teaching and Learning 

This panel will explore how education data is being actively used to improve learning outcomes. Drawing on experiences from Burkina Faso, India, Kenya, and Uganda, panelists will share how data is leveraged at national, district, and school levels to inform learning monitoring, enhance teaching practices, and guide resource allocation—driving measurable improvements in foundational learning.

  • John Mugo, Executive Director, Zizi Afrique Foundation; Principal Investigator of the GPE KIX-supported Unlocking Data Initiative which focuses on enhancing the use of education data to improve learning outcomes 
  • Vinod Karate, Lead for Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Reform, Central Square Foundation; architect of the State Reform Playbook supporting India’s NIPUN Bharat mission 
  • Mr. Sawadogo Jérôme, Head of the Basic Education District of Manga (Burkina Faso), leads the local KIX-STATS-Education platform (https://seeds.bf/), developed by the Institut Supérieur des Sciences de la Population (ISSP) with the support of the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) under the KIX-SEEDS project. This initiative aims to strengthen the production, management, and use of local education data in order to promote a more effective, inclusive, and participatory school governance.
