The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) of Lesotho will host a high-level technical exchange workshop from 13–21 November 2025, bringing together education experts from Kenya and Lesotho to strengthen efforts to make the national curriculum more inclusive for learners with disabilities. The initiative is supported by the GPE KIX Africa 19 Hub, in partnership with UNICEF ESARO and UNICEF Lesotho.

This workshop is the next step in an ongoing South–South collaboration between the two countries, following a successful peer learning visit and curriculum review workshop held in Naivasha, Kenya, in September 2025. During the Naivasha workshop, technical teams from both countries jointly identified how the Lesotho curriculum could be adapted to ensure that children with diverse learning needs are better supported in the classroom.

A Kenyan technical delegation, comprising specialists from the Ministry of Education, the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), will travel to Maseru to lead the upcoming training sessions. The training will focus on building the capacity of national education officials with practical skills in curriculum and assessment adaptation approaches for learners with different disabilities

The Master Trainer model is designed to ensure that capacity is institutionalized within Lesotho, enabling trained officers and teacher educators to cascade skills to teachers at national and district levels over time.
