The KIX Africa 19 Hub is holding a webinar on Social Dialogues for Teachers: Amplifying the voice of the teacher to inform and achieve quality educational reforms in Africa on Thursday, 22nd August 2024, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. East Africa Time (UTC +3).
The webinar is open to all stakeholders interested in supporting teachers and strengthening the teaching profession in Africa. The link to register is here.
The webinar is being organized by the Hub secretariat at the UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) and in partnership with the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA).
The webinar will provide a virtual forum to:

Discuss the rationale/importance of social dialogues towards improving the status of the teaching profession, teacher quality, teaching and learning in line with the new education 2030 agenda, CESA (2016-20) and ILO recommendations (1966/1997);

Identify the extent to which social dialogues for teachers have been institutionalized in Africa, including the roles of the critical players;

Identify strategies to either set up or strengthen mechanisms for institutionalizing social dialogues for teachers and their representative organizations;

Develop recommendations to move this agenda forward through innovative ways focused on in-service teacher support.
