Every year, millions of girls across Eastern and Southern Africa face barriers to continuing their education due to pregnancy and parenthood. While many countries have introduced school re-entry policies, ensuring these policies translate into meaningful opportunities for girls to return to, remain in, and complete their education remains a significant challenge.

This regional webinar will bring together Gender Community of Practice members; gender leads and education planners in Ministries of Education; UNICEF and UNESCO regional and country teams; KIX grantees; researchers and civil society organizations; development partners to explore the latest evidence on school re-entry policies and discuss practical approaches to strengthen implementation across the region.

Participants will:

• Explore key findings from the regional research on school re-entry policies and practices in 21 countries across Eastern and Southern Africa.
• Share country experiences from Somalia, Tanzania, and Zambia, showcasing policy development, national research, and policy reform.
• Exchange ideas on overcoming implementation challenges and strengthening support systems for pregnant and parenting adolescents.
• Connect with a growing regional community committed to advancing gender equality and inclusive education.

By learning from one another and sharing evidence-based solutions, we can strengthen education systems that ensure every girl has the opportunity to continue learning, complete her education, and achieve her full potential.
