The Inception Meeting for KIX Africa 19 Hub Extension will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from May 23 - 24th, 2023. This meeting will bring together KIX country focal points to develop a deep understanding of the Hub’s extension work plan, an agreement on common objectives, collaboration opportunities, and an action plan transitioning to the next phase within partner countries.

By bringing together KIX focal points from 19 GPE partner countries, direct implementing partners such as the Africa Early Childhood Network (AfECN), VVOB - education for development, and strategic networking partners such as the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), the Africa Federation of Teaching Regulatory Authorities (AFTRA), and the East Africa Community (EAC), this meeting will foster a shared understanding of the role and functioning of the KIX regional hub towards strengthening national education systems and accelerating educational progress.

The objectives of the KIX Extension Inception Meeting are to take stock of the gains, successes, and key lessons learnt during the initial implementation of the KIX Africa 19 Hub and to reflect on how they impact the framing of the extension. At the meeting, Ministry of Education focal points and project advisors will:

  1. Internalize the new proposed project activities and milestones for the extension to create a shared understanding of the new interventions, anticipated challenges and opportunities to co-create strategies to work together to successfully implement the extension;

  2. Discuss how to improve the role and engagement of country focal points in Hub activities towards strengthening national education systems and accelerating educational progress;

  3. Identify demand-driven innovations and solutions related to shared policy challenges that can be adopted by other countries;

  4. Review and agree on new commitment areas and milestones which will define priorities related to policy challenges and the methods of engaging and building ownership of member states in Hub activities.

This meeting warmly welcomes country representatives, particularly those from our partner countries, to enhance their engagement and ownership of the KIX Africa 19 Hub and to strengthen collaboration among all participants.
