GPE Summit Side Event: Educational Research in Times of COVID-19

July 27 2021 02:00 pm - 03:30 pm BST
Location:
Virtual webinar

At a time when educational stakeholders are facing challenges of an unprecedented nature due to the impacts of COVID 19, the demand for evidence to guide their decisions becomes urgent. As the Global Partnership for Education’s (GPE) chosen mechanism to support and mobilize evidence among partner countries, the GPE Knowledge Innovation Exchange (KIX) has gathered relevant lessons and experiences from educational stakeholders across the globe.

On July 27, in a side event prior to the “Global Education Summit: Financing GPE 2021-2025”, co-hosted by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, KIX will be hosting a panel discussion to highlight findings on educational research during the pandemic. The side event will be hosted in English and it will include simultaneous translation in French.

The panel will seek to present what has been learned by KIX supported research and knowledge mobilization initiatives in the context of COVID-19 in the Global South. It will focus on three complementary aspects:

  1. The design adaptations necessary to conduct research, of adequate standard and quality, in the context of a global health crisis;
  2. Observed changes in knowledge priorities, with policymakers forced to prioritize some research agendas over others;
  3. Forms of funding and support for education research available at this time.
