The Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) and the Education Deans Forum - Kenya (EDF-K) will be co-hosting the 6th Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) Biennial, and the Education Deans Forum (EDF-K) Inaugural Conference at the University of Embu, Embu County, Kenya. 

The theme of the 6th Biennial Conference is “Re-imagining Education in Kenya: Reforming Teacher Education for Sustainable Development” placing teachers at the center of Kenya’s education reform agenda. The conference aims to:  

  • Strengthen collaborations between evidence producers and users,  
  • Showcase effective, evidence-informed teaching and pedagogical innovations,  
  • Share knowledge that can guide education sector policies,  
  • Support ongoing reforms in teacher education and foundational learning. 

The Key sub-themes include: 

  1. Policy and Practice in Teacher Education: examines how research and evidence can inform policy development and teacher professional growth. Discussions will include teacher management, resource allocation, in-service training models, and sustainable continuous professional development strategies.  
  1. Curriculum and Pedagogical Approaches in Teacher Training: Focusing on instructional design, this track will explore how teacher training institutions can align curriculum and teaching methodologies with the competency-based framework. It emphasizes harmonization across institutions and practical implementation strategies.  
  1. Leadership for Effective Teaching and Learning: highlighting the role of visionary and data-informed leadership in enhancing curriculum delivery. Showcasing transformative leadership practices that promote collaboration, accountability, and improved learning outcomes in both school and training environments.  
  1. Strengthening Foundational Skills: Participants will explore innovative approaches to teaching foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills. Focusing on how these competencies can be effectively integrated into teacher preparation programs and reinforced through practice.  

This platform will foster constructive dialogue between universities, teacher training institutions, researchers, national and county governments, and development partners. 

About The Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) 

The Education Evidence for Action (EE4A) is a forum for producers and users of evidence that links education research to policy and practice. EE4A members includes the Ministry of Education, Universities, and Civil Society and Research Organizations. EE4A envisions an education system where evidence is actively produced, synthesized, accessed, and applied to inform policy and practice. 

About The Education Deans Forum – Kenya (EDF-K) 

The Education Deans Forum – Kenya (EDF-K) is a consortium representing all Deans of Schools of Education in public and private universities across Kenya. Established in 2019 in response to the adoption and roll-out of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in basic education, EDF-K provides a national platform for dialogue on critical issues affecting teacher education. Its core goal is to facilitate discussion on common concerns in teacher training, as well as to engage policymakers on emerging issues that impact the quality and direction of teacher education.
