Georgine Auma is a passionate Deaf Educator and Director of eKitabu’s Studio KSL (Kenya Sign Language) and a leading Deaf education specialist in East Africa. She pioneered the development of video storybooks in national Sign Languages across Africa, expanding access for deaf and hard of hearing learners. Georgine leads groundbreaking research on how these storybooks impact language acquisition. Georgine holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum Development.
As the Country Lead for Kenya in the IDRC-KIX project, she spearheads and ensures activities supporting sign language-rich learning environments are effectively implemented in Kenya, Rwanda, and Malawi. A Mandela Washington Fellow and one of Kenya’s top 40 under-40 women, Georgine is a respected advocate for accessible learning and Deaf community leadership.
